SHPE-SV NetDays
SHPE-SV's first NetDay was on October 5th 1996, SHPE-SV (formerly)
San Jose connected Hillsdale Elementary School of the Franklin-McKinley
School District to the Internet. Approximately 60 SHPE engineers participated
in the event. Our members coordinated the project, designed and configured
the school's network, conducted a web page training course for the
district's teachers, and terminated the wiring in the school's classrooms.
Approximately 400-500 SHPE engineering hours were put into this event.
At the end of the day every single networkable computer (approximately
30) was successfully surfing the Internet.
