Past Events in 2008-2009
- 1st General Meeting of 2008 on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Beshoff MotorCars, 3000 East Capitol Expressway, San Jose, CA.
We will be discussing about the events and workshops for 2008-2009 chapter year, organize some planning committees, and introduce the chapter officers.
Prizes will be raffled at the end of the meeting.

Free "American Teen" Movie Screening at Santana Row on Thursday, July 31st at 7:30pm at Century's CineArts Theater at 3088 Olsen Drive in San Jose, CA.
We have special advance screening tickets of the Paramount Vantage upcoming release, American Teen. Up to 30 members are invited to the screening. It's absolutely free. If you're interested, please RSVP with David Silva (president@shpe-sv.org) by Thursday 5pm to confirm available spots.
YOU MUST ARRIVE EARLY!!!! I recommend by 7:00pm. These passes don't guarantee a seat at the theater and seating is first come first served. Feel free to invite a friend, colleague, student, son, or daughter along.

Benefit Screening for the International Latino Film Society
The International Latino Film Society (ILFS) and the San Francisco Chapter of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) are proud to co-present a Benefit Screening of Postales de Leningrado (with English subtitles) on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 @ 7pm at the Brava Theater in San Francisco (2781 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110).

Santana Row's Fall Fashion in the Park benefiting the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley On Saturday, September 13th at 6:30 p.m., the Fourth Annual Fall Fashion in the Park at Santana Row will benefit the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley. The event will be catered by the fabulous Consuelo's Mexican Bistro with a pre-show wine and hors d'oeuvres reception and we will have a special after-party soiree.

SWE SCV Fall Kick Off
SHPE Silicon Valley professionals are invited to join the SWE Santa Clara Valley Fall Kick Off Bowl-a-Rama on Monday, September 22 from 6pm-8pm at Moonlite Lanes in Santa Clara (2780 El Camino Real). It will be a great time to mingle and network with members of SWE SCV while playing some friendly bowling competition.
The fee is $10 for joint members of SWE and SHPE and $15 for members and non-members of SHPE. The fee covers two hours of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, and drinks. Join SHPE Silicon Valley for a free advanced screening of the Sony Pictures upcoming release, "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist". The movie screening will take place at the AMC Van Ness 14 @ 1000 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco on Thursday, September 25 @ 7:00pm.
Each pass admits TWO people. Keep in mind that you must arrive early, seating is first come first serve, and the pass does not guarantee a seat at the theatre.

Noche de Ciencias / Family Science Night
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Silicon Valley Professional Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) cordially invite all local San Jose students (K-12) and parents to join us for an exciting technology and science awareness night. Students will experience various hands-on activities about the different fields of engineering, technology, and science. Parents will participate in round-tables to learn about college choices/admissions and programs available to finance higher education costs. Volunteers for the event are needed.

Ride Across the Golden Gate Bridge with the Cornell Alumni Association and SHPE on November 23, 2008. Come join the Cornell Alumni Association of Northern California (CAANC) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) for a crisp Golden Gate Bridge bike ride from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito/Tiburon and back via ferry on Sunday, November 23rd.
