• 1st General Meeting of 2008 on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Beshoff MotorCars, 3000 East Capitol Expressway, San Jose, CA.
  
  We will be discussing about the events and workshops for 2008-2009 chapter year, organize some planning committees, and introduce the chapter officers.
  
  Prizes will be raffled at the end of the meeting.

• Free "American Teen" Movie Screening at Santana Row on Thursday, July 31st at 7:30pm at Century's CineArts Theater at 3088 Olsen Drive in San Jose, CA.
  
  We have special advance screening tickets of the Paramount Vantage upcoming release, American Teen. Up to 30 members are invited to the screening. It's absolutely free. If you're interested, please RSVP with David Silva (president@shpe-sv.org) by Thursday 5pm to confirm available spots.

  The International Latino Film Society (ILFS) and the San Francisco Chapter of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) are proud to co-present a Benefit Screening of Postales de Leningrado (with English subtitles) on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 @ 7pm at the Brava Theater in San Francisco (2781 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110).

  SHPE Silicon Valley professionals are invited to join the SWE Santa Clara Valley Fall Kick Off Bowl-a-Rama on Monday, September 22 from 6pm-8pm at Moonlite Lanes in Santa Clara (2780 El Camino Real). It will be a great time to mingle and network with members of SWE SCV while playing some friendly bowling competition.
  
  The fee is $10 for joint members of SWE and SHPE and $15 for members and non-members of SHPE. The fee covers two hours of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, and drinks.   In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Silicon Valley Professional Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) cordially invite all local San Jose students (K-12) and parents to join us for an exciting technology and science awareness night. Students will experience various hands-on activities about the different fields of engineering, technology, and science. Parents will participate in round-tables to learn about college choices/admissions and programs available to finance higher education costs. Volunteers for the event are needed.
