The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los
Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the
City of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization
of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic
community.
The concept of Networking was the key basis for the organization. SHPE
quickly established two student chapters to begin the network that would
grow to encompass the nation as well as reach countries outside the
United States. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of
professional and student chapters throughout the nation.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE RUNS THROUGH NOVEMBER 21, 2003
Help us kick-off our new recruitment promotion . . .
When a member recruits a new member into a Professional SHPE Chapter, that member earns either a SHPE shirt or mug (their choice) with the SHPE Professional emblem on it. The new member will also receive either a shirt or mug.
Here’s the best part . . .
The member that recruits the most new members will receive two roundtrip airline tickets*. The chapter that recruits the most members will receive two paid registrations to SHPE NTCC 2004 in Chicago.
Rules of Engagement:
1. A new member is someone who is new to a professional chapter and not a
renewing member of that chapter (or any other chapter within the same region).
2. Graduating college seniors that join a professional chapter receive free
membership for the first year, a free shirt or mug, and can count themselves as a new recruited member.
3. Members may recruit new members into chapters other than their own.
4. This promotion expires November 21, 2003 and winners will be announced
November 25, 2003.
5. Send an email to membership@shpe.org to let
us know your name, your chapter and the name of the member you recruited to receive credit for each new member.
* Valued up to $1500. Some restrictions may apply.
